Committees

There are many areas of our shul and our community that need volunteers. If you would like to get involved and contribute your time, please contact the committee chairpeople below.

Adult Education

The Adult Education Committee is a key link in making our shul a center of the community’s Torah learning. Through the many shiurim organized for both men and women, the vibrant Beis Medrash which is filled on a daily basis and the various speakers who come to our shul(including Scholar-in-Residence, Yom Tov programming and Sunday morning events), our families are able to focus themselves on improving their avodas Hashem. The Adult Education committee works closely with the board of directors and our Rav to coordinate invitations to speakers and raise funds for programming. If you have any ideas for future shiurim or speakers please contact Seth Lebowitz (sethl41@yahoo.com) or Brian Gopin (brian.m.gopin@jpmorgan.com).

Israel Action

The Israel Action committee leads the Beth Abraham contingent on the annual Norpac Mission to Washington. This involves publicizing the Mission to the membership, arranging the registrants from our shul into groups, assigning group leaders, leading the Beth Abraham bus, and being available to answer questions that members may have about the mission. This enhances our involvement in the jewish community at large. To get involved in the organization of our contingent for the NORPAC mission, or if there are other projects we should get involved with politically, please contact Reven Escott (rdescott@gmail.com) or Zvi Plotzker (plotzker@yahoo.com).

The CBA Technology Committee provides the shul with a variety of critical http://www.besttramadolonlinestore.com services. In addition to maintaining the shul’s website (www.bethabraham.org) and email groups, the committee also enables easy signup to shul events, including the dinner, with web-based event homepages and forms. The committee is always looking for new ways to improve the website and make it more user friendly. We are currently looking for upgrades to help people learn about our community and provide useful information about the shul. Youth Committee

The Beth Abraham Youth Committee, in conjunction with the youth directors, is responsible for implementing our youth mission which is to provide a nurturing and educational atmosphere so that our children will develop a love for Shul. The committee meets approximately three times over the course of the year to discuss and collaborate on enhancements that can be made to the programming and to generate healthy discussion about the challenges that may arise. With the continued growth of our youth both in age and size, there is a need to continuously evaluate the overall youth program to ensure we meet the needs of our youth as best as we can. Our extremely dedicated youth director, Aryeh Morris and assistant youth director, Chanie Bleich put a tremendous amount of time and effort to implement the youth program and to make personal connections with as many of our youth as possible. All funds that may be raised specifically for the youth that were not anticipated in the initial budgeting process are used to try and introduce new programming around calendar events where no programming existed before and to try to arrange fun and exciting trips. The youth committee is always looking for new people to join and contribute their thoughts and talents in any way possible. If you are interested in helping out please contact Elie Konigsberg or Chaim Book, Scott Chudnoff, Elie Konigsberg, Ora Kornbluth, Menachem Lipner, Aviva Markowitz, Aaron Ross, Rivki Schwartz, Asher Teigman.

Youth Teen Zone

The Beth Abraham Teen Zone is dedicated to creating programming in the shul for our teenagers. There is a biweekly Night Seder program for 7th, 8th and 9th grade boys in the Bais Medrash overseen by some of our high school boys and Rav Cohen. We help organize, set up, clean up and order the refreshments for the weekly teen shalosh seudos program supervised by Rav Cohen. Additional Onegs and Tisches are set up throughout the year at different peoples’ homes for high school age boys and girls. Additional fun events are coordinated through the shul for our teens to participate in. These types of fun/informal social events, plus the onegs and other spiritual events allow the teens of the Beth Abraham community to come together, regardless of which schools they attend. The Teen Zone is intended to be a warm, open and friendly environment for teens and adolescents. We are always looking for volunteers to help set up and clean up the shalosh seudos, as well as, help organize events for our teens outside the shul.

For more information or to get involved contact Jonathan Landa (landajo99@hotmail.com) or David Markowitz (David.m@drape.com).
